In 2016, Matt felt a calling to switch sides and begin representing Texas injury victims. Since then, he has worked exclusively as counsel to accident victims. Assisting Matt is his pugnacious partner Jerome, a rescue pug who was left on the side of the road and now lives like a king.

As a personal injury trial attorney, Matt has been named in Texas Monthly Magazine’s list of Super Lawyers Rising Stars every year since 2017. Only 2.5% of lawyers age 40 or under receive this prestigious recognition, which is based on a multiphase selection process that includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
In 2019, he obtained one of the top 100 jury verdicts in the state of Texas as lead trial counsel. That verdict was also in the top 50 in Texas for cases involving motor vehicles.
Outside of work, Matt is married to Austin real estate agent Leslie Breeland, who is also an attorney. They met in law school and now have two young children, a boy and a girl, and a pug named Jerome.
