Matt Breeland was selected to the 2023 Super Lawyers list after being selected as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Only 2.5% of lawyers age 40 or under receive the prestigious Rising Star recognition, which is based on a multi-phase selection process that includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
As lead trial counsel, Matt obtained one of the top 100 jury verdicts in the state of Texas in 2019. That verdict was also in the top 50 in Texas for cases involving motor vehicles.
After spending the first part of his career defending personal injury cases, Matt knows how the other side works. In that role, Matt gained a unique and highly valuable perspective on the litigation tactics employed by insurance companies against those who fall victim to another person's carelessness. In 2016, Matt had a calling to switch sides and begin Representing Texas Injury Victims. Since then he has worked exclusively as counsel to accident victims.
Matt is married to Austin Realtor Leslie Breeland, who is also an attorney. Matt and Leslie met in law school and now have two young children, a boy and a girl, and a pug named Jerome (who spends most of the day at Matt's feet or on his lap). The Breeland family helps keep Austin weird and fun. When he isn't zealously representing injured clients against giant insurance companies, Matt is usually goofing around with his family and friends, cooking or eating great food, watching live music and sports, binging a crime documentary series, or playing bad golf. Matt has completed a marathon without walking or stopping (just don't ask him how long it took him). Matt has also served as a film screener for the South By Southwest Film Festival.
